The Community Service Program has been designed to foster a spirit of responsibility, creativity, citizenship and social awareness as well as to offer students an opportunity to learn about and volunteer with different institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations working in Lebanon. To be promoted, students of the 5th level are required to complete 35 hours of activity and prepare an individual portfolio with their reflections by the end of the year. A community service grade will appear on the student’s grade reports.
The program themes for this year include working with refugees, orphans, elderly and individuals with special needs. There will also be a short term project and occasional sessions on Saturdays (first aid training and awareness presentations) of which students will be notified ahead of time.
For this year, some of activities will take place on Campus and others off campus. In case of an activity taking place off campus or in case of postponement, you will be notified with the need to sign another permission slip for the purpose.
Updated information will be available on the IC website- Community Service department. You are kindly requested to check it regularly to be informed of any amendments and about your children’s CS schedule and requirements.
We hope that this program will foster a spirit of responsibility and self-motivation as well as offer IC students an opportunity to learn about the different types of social work being conducted in Lebanon. For this program to be successful we will need your cooperation and support. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with this program, please feel free to contact the Community Service Office at I.C. 01-367466 ext 149
